Prepare yourselves for an evening of mystery and creeping dread. We are delving into Genius Loci, a tale of institutional horror and secrets that refuse to stay buried.

If this is your first time facing the Mythos, keep one thing in mind: You are not superheroes. You are ordinary people; librarians, detectives, or professors โ€“ thrust into extraordinary, terrifying circumstances.

  • The Goal: Solve the mystery and stay sane (or at least alive).

  • The Stakes: Combat is deadly, and knowledge often comes at a price. Use your wits, investigate thoroughly, and remember that sometimes, running away is the best decision.

Your friend and colleague, Larry Croswell, has been committed to the Danvers State Hospital for the Insane. His letters started off rambling, but the most recent one is a frantic, barely legible scrawl. He claims he is being held against his will and that โ€œsomethingโ€ is coming for him. He begs you to get him out before the next full moon.

Will you answer the call before Larryโ€™s mindโ€”or soulโ€”is lost forever?

To fully immerse ourselves in the 1920s atmosphere, I encourage you to think deeply about who your investigator is. What drives them? What is their greatest fear?

Note: You do not have to "act" or do a voice, but embodying your characterโ€™s motivations is key to the fun.

  • Dress the Part: While not mandatory, suitable โ€˜20s-era outfits are highly encouraged! A fedora, a waist-coat, or a string of pearls goes a long way in setting the mood.

  • Character Creation: This takes a bit of work at first, but itโ€™s the fun part: getting into your characterโ€™s shoes. Their job, skills, history, relationships, money, and important items all combine to help you fully inhabit the character. This upfront lift is the most youโ€™ll have to do for the entirety of the scenario.

    • The Dhole House website allows you to create your character online and export your character sheet as a PDF. The website SUCKS, but itโ€™s the best free option. Must be on desktop. Email your character PDF to me asap at joshhornerdesign@gmail.com

  • Premades: If youโ€™d prefer to jump right in without building your own, I will have a selection of ready-to-play characters available on the day.

  • Food: Charcuterie will be provided fitting our theme, please let me know of any allergies ahead of time.

  • Drink:

    • The Last Word: Created at the Detroit Athletic Club around 1915, this was a staple of the era. It is sharp, pale green and gives a medicinal elixir vibe. Alcoholic.

    • The Horseโ€™s Neck: A non-alcoholic cooler served in high-end establishments. It relies on the spicy bite of ginger to portray a restorative essence.

  • Date: March, Friday the 13th, 6PM โ€“ Late

  • Location: 1005 King Street West, Suite 701.

  • Entry: Buzz 480 to enter.

  • Arrival: Please come right in the door once you arrive; Honey Pie (the dog) will bark significantly less if you enter confidently!
